Day 19 - Next Port, Genoa - Last Day in Italy (Updated)

After an early night and finally some good rest we docked in Genoa very early at 0700. It was still dark.
It is a bit strange to be woken from your slumber when you feel your bed turning.

Today we planned to just get off the ship and have a quick peek-a-boo around town.  This actually turned out to be probably one of the best experiences of Italy....lucky as it is our last day in Italy and a good time to move on to the next chapter.

We just started walking and found ourselves stumbling across some of the important sites here, including Christopher Columbus' house. After a while in Italy one church looks like the last. Here are a few things that we stumbled across today. Amazing pieces of architecture. Big fountains too!

Found some other weird shops too...I had to down-gauge my "sexy" as to not alarm the locals!

We found the posh shops too. Lovely to look at, but well beyond our price range.  The Dolce & Gabbana Store was dazzling!

(For you Unjie!)

Genoa was a pretty little city to walk around, especially when you get lost - on purpose. The tiny lane ways with shops and restaurants are what you would expect in Italy.  Very cute! After many hours of walking we have headed back to the ship for a rest. Genoa was a very big surprise and encouraging to revisit the Italian Riveria again.

Tonight is another formal night on the Ruby. We have opted out of the penguin behaviour tonight and eating at a non-formal assigned restaurant and not Sizzler.  There is a comedian performing this evening so we may go for a giggle before dinner.

We may need an early night again as we sail into Monte Carlo at 0600. We are only there until 1400, so will need to make the most of the time with an early start.

Clyde kept low today and looked after things back at the ship!

Update:
Back from dinner late where we enjoyed some of the best food and service that we have ever experienced.

There are 2.5m waves and 50kt winds. It's a bit of a rollercoaster out here!! Woohoo! Clyde has tucked himself into bed too. But the Ruby Princess is cutting through it very well.

Lucky it's a short hop to Monte Carlo. We were meant to tender but due to a cancellation at the dock we can now arrive alongside an hour later, making it easier for the short amount of time we are there.
