That plan didn't happen...well we did disembark, found a bus transfer to a bus stop to catch another bus to said tower.
While waiting for second bus we located some shops and made a mental list of things to get upon our return to Livorno after Pisa. The bus to Pisa took approximately 40 minutes with most of that seeming to be zigzagging back through the port and local oil refinery. We got a magnificent view of the port from the left AND right side of the bus. The aromas emanating from the refinery were something special with the unique view topping it off. We really did get the most out of our €10 round trip ticket. That's OK the return journey was sleepy night-night time.
Anyway, we did make it to Pisa and after a quick 10 minute trott we found ourselves in the "Field of Miracles". We saw a plethora of miracles as we walked around. Many folk were seen holding the leaning tower upright. Complete miracle work right in front of our eyes. Arrrrrrh-mazing! Actually we ended up taking photos of people taking photos of people holding the tower up. Did you manage to work that one out? What a hoot! There were some seriously "special" folk there.
Sooooo, the tower. Did you know it is leaning? Well, it is.....quite a bit actually. If those special tourists hadn't been there it probably would have toppled over. Clyde was a little too spooked, so stayed with Ryan. He finally came out of his shell when he realised all of those special folk wouldn't get him.
After a few hours of appreciating the wonky architecture and purchase of fridge magnet, we located the Pisa Maccas for the obligatory picture for our World Maccas Challenge album. Funnily enough they have started the Monopoly promotion... I won a free milkshake...WINNING! Ryan won a free Nintento Wii. Buuuuuut, as we are not residents of Italia that all means nothing. Oh well. We may project manage a workaround once we are home.
Back in Livorno we located those shops, including picking up a new suitcase as one gave up the ghost when we boarded the ship.
We managed to squeeze in a good round of golf too...
The Captain got pissy when we wanted to use one of the bigger balls...
But not a bad view anyway...
We decided on an early dinner at Sizzler. Well, it's not actually Sizzler rather the Horizon Court Terrace mega-buffet. After the lessons learned from Bingo it was best to step aside for the hungry grannies. They don't have as long to wait as we do I guess. We needed a change from the posh Botticelli Restaurant / Dining Room where we have an allocated table each night.
After some tricky moves in the harbour dodging many ships and submarines we set course for Genoa a little late.
It was an early night after our big adventure during the day. 9pm, lights out!
